ERIC LOVE Shares His Love for THE PROM-THE MUSICAL!
and why mounting it at LNT is so special!
At its essence, The Prom is about two worlds colliding.
It’s like watching a slow motion train wreck when the dramatic, over-the-top, narcissistic Broadway actors come crashing into the small town community of Edgewater, Indiana, filled with beautiful, complex, flawed, inspiring people.
Although this collision is painful and dramatic, in the end, everyone is changed for the better.
I’m drawn to this musical because it is about show-biz colliding with real life.
I’m drawn to this musical because it has a strong, uplifting LGBTQ core.
I’m drawn to this musical because it is surprising and irreverent and silly, but also deeply human.
This is a perfect piece for LNT because it allows us to feature our super talented teens and performing alumni of central Vermont, along with pros from across the country as well as Vermont.
We've got extra-tasty casting of our artistic directors too. (Yes, Kim Bent is in a musical - playing opposite Kathleen Keenan, and a host of the performers they've helped to raise. It's so yummy.)
The intimacy of the space will bring you right up close to the action, a rare treat for a big musical.
(And the design team - as well as the cast - are truly a dream!)
The Prom is a joyous, party of a musical that you won’t want to miss!
And I'm just so happy to be back!
I hope to see you at the show!
