Songs of the Stage from the Steps of City Hall

Show Overview

A Concert Cabaret - LIVE and in person!

The concert features singer-songwriter-guitarist (& LNT Artistic Director) Kathleen Keenan with special guests actor-singer-dancer Taryn Noelle, fiddler Susan Reid, and gospel singer Shanda Williams.

The concert will feature solos, duets, and full company numbers. Each artist will have her own mic and safety protocols guide all staging. And a special guest (not able to be confirmed by press time) may make an appearance! Although Lost Nation Theater is officially closed due to the pandemic, we are very glad to be able to offer this special event.

Audiences are asked to remember and adhere to social distancing protocols, wear masks at all times, bring a chair, and have a great time!

This is a free event, tho' donations will be gratefully accepted.

Saturday October 17  -  5pm

Scoop Info

“Songs of the Stage from the Steps of City Hall” is the culminating celebration of Montpelier Madness weekend organized by Montpelier Alive. The concert is outside, will run about 45 minutes, and is Free (tho’ donations gratefully accepted). So bring a chair, wear your mask, social distance, and be ready for a great time!

The show’s tunes will traverse a variety of styles and time periods. From Lost Nation Theater originals (like those recently heard in our Shakespeare on the State House Steps’ Midsommer Nights Dreame staged reading) to favorite musicals at LNT (like Always, Patsy Cline), to the most recent Broadway hits – including Taryn Noelle’s cover of “Flowers” from Hadestown.

To honor the anniversary of the 19th Amendment, the fighting spirit of Ruth Bader Ginsberg, and the theme of LNT’s ill-fated 2020 season (highlighting the accomplishments of women), performing artists for this concert are all women. Sound guru Bennett Shapiro of Mad Tech Sound Reinforcement, assisted by Andrew Vachon, will be on hand to make sure it all sounds great and is easily heard! And LNT’s lighting technicians will enhance the natural illumination.

Buzz Info

Keenan has this to say about the performance:

“It’s fun ‘taking a walk down memory lane’ singing favorite songs from past Lost Nation Theater shows – as well as tackling songs from shows we hope to do someday. It’s made all the more special by getting to perform with one of our favorite artists, Taryn Noelle! Add the opportunity to work on some new arrangements and with new collaborators, Susan Reid and Shanda Williams, and you’ve got a recipe for a seriously good time. All powerhouse women and performers. Sharing the stage with them is really keeping me on my toes! I hope you’ll join us.”
