New Year's Eve Celebration returns to Montpelier!

The Beat Goes On!!

A citywide, festival of music, performance, and fun family activities showcasing the character of Montpelier by featuring artists that have made this community their home for many decades. Free for the community! (Donations appreciated)

Ring in the New Year throughout the day in different venues throughout the community with family friendly activities and music by groups like the Sara Grace Band, Arthur Zorn, The Steppes.

In the evening - celebrate with a special performance by Shidaa Projects and Lost Nation Theater.

For this special performance, Shidaa Dance and Drum Troupe will introduce its special guest dancer and choreographer, Samuel Maama Marquaye from Ghana, supported by our own Artistic Director Jordan Mensah; locally acclaimed Guinean balafonist Ousmane Camara, based in Warren; master drummer Seny Daffe of Jeh Kulu; Stuart Paton, from Burlington Taiko, and other drum and dance enthusiasts from the community celebrating New Year’s Eve through dance drumming. Lost Nation Theater artists include Kathleen Keenan and Shanda Williams among others. Be prepared for uplifting rhythms and good energy this New Year’s Eve!

Sadly, the elevator (knocked out of commission by the flood) in our home within Montpelier City Hall will not be able to be replaced in time for the show - but we will be live-streaming for those who aren't able to be with us in person since we cannot provide wheelchair/walker access during this emergency situation.
