outline of curtain and sound improvement projects

Our Doo Wop Dance Party Celebrated with Style our community and Montpelier City Hall Auditorium's great history as a gathering place for our community AND the great improvements Lost Nation Theater just put in place, thanks in part to a grant from the Vermont Arts Council's Cultural Facilities Program.

Special thanks must be given to those who assisted Artistic Director Kim Bent on designing the project and getting the grant - including Kris Weir, Bennett Shapiro of Mad Tech sound and Dave & Eric at Production Advantage.

The grand drape (which was falling apart, and no amount of patching or prayer could hold it together anymore) was replaced with a replica of the original 100+ year old curtain! It looks great, and is Fire Proof for life!! The curtain project was guided

Other improvements were made to the sound system. The assisted listening system was alsooverhauled with a new transmitter and new receivers - including recievers that are hearing aid compatable. Something not available before! We're so excited about that! Plus - thanks to Lost Naiton Theater, the Hall now boasts brand new speakers, sound board, microphones and more. This will make it much easier for excellent sound at dances, concerts, and great creativity for theater's sound designers.

It was all showed off at the Doo Wop Dance Party

as DJ Fred Wilber spinned tunes and folks from 4-to-84 took to the dance floor. Many thanks to AnnaMaria DiPietropaolo for leading "The Madison" dance, Tom Moog of Sweet Melissa's for the cash bar, Capitol Grounds, Morse Farm, Capitol Copy and stalwart volunteers Leeds Brewer, Ben Jeffries, Mitch Osiecki, and Susan Reid for their support. (Special shout out to Laura Gist and Melissa Troxler - our stage managers extraordinaire who turned into stellar light designers for the event.)
